BIO- Dr. Harvinder SareenHarvinder Sareen, Ph.D., is the Clinical Programs Director for WellPoint’s Medicaid business unit. Dr. Sareen plays a key role in leading WellPoint’s initiative to promote healthier lifestyles and address childhood obesity. Under her leadership, the initiative has facilitated innovative BMI training and other resources for primary care physicians as well as partnered with academic institutions to generate evidence for school fresh fruit and vegetable bars and furthermore support legislation on child nutrition and salad bars. Her work focuses on leveraging clinical best practices, instituting functional health literacy to improve health outcomes, advancing patient-centered medical homes in Medicaid and evaluating innovative approaches such as “exergaming” for health promotion. Dr. Sareen has spearheaded several collaborative projects with leaders in the arenas of healthcare, research, and public service including the National Committee for Quality Assurance, to pilot test the feasibility of a performance measure in childhood obesity; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and California Child Health and Disability Prevention Program, to promote standard screening for obesity and BMI measurement; the California Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports to promote healthier lifestyles among young adolescents in low-income communities; and the University of California, Los Angeles, to evaluate the effectiveness of the fresh fruit and vegetable bar program for the Los Angeles Unified School District. In addition to the above, Dr. Sareen has developed SimpleSteps, a pilot wellness program for employees under the umbrella of WellPoint’s Choose Better Health program. She also co-chaired the California WellPoint Associate Wellness Committee for five years. Dr. Sareen holds a doctoral degree from the UCLA School of Public Health with a minor in Anthropology. Her previous work includes working closely with underserved populations in northern India, the Women, Infants, and Children program in South Los Angeles, the California Healthy Start program, AIDS Project Los Angeles, First 5 Ventura County, California, and the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Sareen serves on the advisory boards of the National Institute of Health Care Management Maternal, Child and Adolescent Health Council and the Medicaid Health Plans of America (MHPA) Center for Best Practices. She is an active member of the Society for Research on Child Development and the American Public Health Association. Dr. Sareen was inducted into the Delta-Omega National Honorary Society in Public Health in 2004 and was the recipient of the MHPA Joy Wheeler Leadership Award in 2011.
Linda Dean Hamacher is a recognized authority in the areas of health benefit delivery and managed care with broad management and consulting experience for both private and public sector plans. Her background includes managed care development (including Medicare and Medicaid managed care programs), compliance, plan design, risk assessment, evaluation and provider contracting, sales and marketing, and utilization management. She has worked with employers, unions and state and local governments in the planning and design of health care programs and processes. Most recently, Ms. Hamacher has been working with local communities in the planning and designing of community-based options for the uninsured and underinsured, including subsidized employer options (“three share” plans). She has designed and helped community-based programs develop sustainable funding, disease and care management programs, and recently assisted a local community in a successful initiative to fund coverage for the uninsured through local property taxes. She assists health plans with the operations, administration, and sales and marketing, as well as the development of special care management programs for lowering health care costs. She performs feasibility studies, risk assessments, and financial pro forma for plans. During her over twenty years experience in managed care, Ms. Hamacher's executive credentials include executive director positions with non-profit county health plans for the uninsured, senior management positions with a community-based HMO and a national managed care organization that specialized in the design and delivery of ancillary health care services for corporate health care plans. Her responsibilities included product development, service area development, provider contracting and servicing, sales and marketing, and government programs. Ms. Hamacher has been with HMA for over 11 years.

She has extensive expertise in effective delivery of patient care, resource management, operations, and planning. Dr. Barndt-Maglio has a strong clinical and operations background having held administrative and clinical positions in several healthcare organizations including community and specialty hospitals as well as academic medical centers. As a consultant, Dr. Barndt-Maglio assists a variety of healthcare organizations in designing and implementing processes to deliver quality patient care through efficient resource utilization. Dr. Barndt-Maglio held positions as a director for Wellspring Partners and as the principal of Maglio and Associates Healthcare Consultants prior to joining The Camden Group. She assisted a variety of healthcare organizations in the areas of outcome management, system redesign and process improvement, strategic planning, and financial analysis. Her consulting work also includes care model redesign, development of centralized scheduling and quality services and performance monitoring systems and tools. Dr. Barndt-Maglio has also served in a variety of interim management positions including vice president for patient services, director of maternal child and women’s services, chief quality officer, and director of labor resource management. Dr. Barndt-Maglio received her bachelor of science degree from the Frances H. Cunningham College of Nursing at the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. She has a master’s of science degree from the College of Nursing at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a doctorate in health administration and health policy from the College of Nursing and Health Science of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.

Her focus includes nursing practice and operations, case management, critical care, patient throughput, and Joint Commission preparation. With more than 30 years of healthcare experience, Dr. Hines has assisted healthcare organizations through her clinical and consulting experience with operational assessments, implementation support, and interim management. Before joining The Camden Group, Dr. Hines served as vice president of consulting operations at Sg2 Health Care Intelligence and vice president of assessments for Cardinal Health. In both positions, she conducted strategic, operational, and clinical assessments and implementation for academic medical centers and hospitals throughout the country. Dr. Hines also served as a senior consultant at APM Management Consultants and assistant administrator/director of nursing at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Barrington, Illinois. In addition, she was a unit director at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, where she managed a medical step-down unit. Dr. Hines is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives, the American Organization of Nurse Executives, the Association of California Nurse Leaders, Case Management Society of America, and the American Association of Critical Care Nurses. She is an accredited case manager and a published author. Dr. Hines earned her master's and doctorate degrees in nursing from Rush University in Chicago. She received her bachelor of science degree from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois and her RN degree from Augustana Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago.
